Loss Mitigation Clerk
Description:
We are a fast-paced consumer finance company that offers indirect financing for vehicles for credit challenged borrowers. In this role in the Loss Mitigation department, you will work on accounts that are seriously delinquent where repossession of the Company's collateral may be necessary (91+ days delinquent). The Loss Mitigation Clerk will be assisting the department with collections and loss mitigation duties. Updates and creates departmental reports on a designated basis. Works with accounting on processing of related costs and charges. You will work with borrowers, contracted recovery agencies, and other team members to mitigate potential loss to the Company. Review customers' accounts and ensure each account is in good standing. Follow-up on delinquent accounts, notating actions and correspondence with borrower in the Company's loan system. Responsibilities Must be bi-lingual (Spanish). Conduct research by skip tracing accounts in order to locate customers Process red flag accounts such as abandon vehicles, impounds, car breakdowns Work accounts past due more than 60 days and handle customer inquiries Provide updates on assigned accounts; Maintain records of all contact with customers Update insurance expiration information Providing administrative support to dept staff including customer and vendor correspondence and maintenance of departmental files and supplies Prepare and file repossession paperwork and reports Compiles reports for management as directed Other duties as assigned

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Requirements Previous work experience in automotive finance industry, performing collections or related work. Extensive knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to collections, including Fair Debt Collections Practices. Previous work experience in customer service, sales, collections or related field Excellent knowledge of collection processes; Firm but fair Excellent verbal communication, negotiation and excellent people skills Outstanding phone etiquette; problem solver Detail oriented, dependable, reliable Proficient computer skills; Microsoft Office for Windows Proficient mathematical skills; Ability to deal with impolite customers Must be bi-lingual (Spanish)
