Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,200 - $4,500 per month

Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,713 - $7,149 per month
  • This is a full-time (equivalent to 40 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt position.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of the office of Innovation and Digital Excellence for Academic Success (IDEAS) or designee, the Academic Technology Specialist supports faculty, academic support units, staff, students, and other campus clients by providing consultation and support to enhance the use and access of technology. The employee shall allocate priority and time to the duties mentioned below based upon direction from the director of Center of Faculty Excellence. The director will communicate these priorities and time allocation at least annually and when necessary.

Key Qualifications
  • Knowledge of:
    • Canvas system administration and user support.
    • Service Management Tools for tracking Incidents, Requests, Problems, and Changes.
    • Operating Systems: Apple Macintosh OS, Microsoft Windows.
    • ATI (accessible technology initiative) standards for instructional materials.
    • Data administration principles and techniques.
    • Copyright, fair use, and TEACH Act laws and industry standards.
  • Abilities:
    • Strong customer service skills and proactive, customer focused attitude.
    • Effective communication skills (verbal and written) particularly using telephone and email.
    • Strong fault isolation and problem solving.
    • Perform multiple tasks and work according to procedures.
    • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with ability to engage with different levels.

Education and Experience
  • Baccalaureate degree in computer science or closely related field earned by May 31, 2023.

The Office of IDEAS (Innovation and Digital Excellence for Academic Success) consolidates the Center for Faculty Excellence, DISCOVERe, CSUCCESS, Academic Technology Resource Center and the Accessible Resource Center under one umbrella administered by the Provost's Office. The office ensures that faculty and students have outstanding support for Canvas, Explorance, Panopto, Zoom and much more. IDEAS will continue the tradition of providing high-level professional development opportunities in the areas of open educational resources, accessible course content, technology, innovation, and pedagogy.
