Palo Alto, California
The Role
The Low Voltage Architecture and Circuitry team designs the "nervous system" for Tesla products including all vehicles, Robot, Dojo and future projects. We are involved from the beginning to the end of the design cycle. This includes defining energy management, functional safety analysis, communication layouts and power flow, as well as harness partitioning and cost studies, trace and wire sizing considering EMI compliance, validation, de-bugging, and production ramp.We are looking for an electrical engineer who understands system level power delivery and grounding (could be from vehicles, servers, or equivalent complex systems), interconnect (electrical properties and reliability of wires, and connectors), and fundamentals of serial communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, Bluetooth, DP, etc.)

Responsibilities
  • Engineering ownership throughout all stages: concept, requirement definition, prototype, architecture development, circuitry design, tooling, design validation and optimization in Beta and RC phases, volume tooling and processes for Start of Production and production ramp-up
  • Thoroughly design full vehicle circuitry and document requirements, calculations, design decisions, service documentation etc.
  • Work closely with mechanical routing team to optimize topology and 3D harness partitioning
  • Collaborate with Body Controls, Firmware, Systems Integration, PCBA Design, Materials Engineering, Reliability and EMC teams
