This high impact role at Blameless is focused on building an advocacy program and strengthening communications between the dev, ops, SRE, and engineering communities plus internal teams at Blameless. The position is primarily focused on building open, trusted communications between the community and Blameless, the company, including its partner ecosystem.


You will act as the voice of the DevOps and SRE community providing inbound feedback to teams at Blameless that will drive change and innovation. With a technical background, you not only deeply understand the functions of an engineering team, you are an active listener asking the difficult questions to deeply understand challenges and any new patterns or trends among our prospective clients. You will communicate with the community through a variety of media including one-on-one meetings, in small and large groups, online office hours, webcasts, industry meetups and conferences, both virtual and physical.


In addition to advocacy, you re responsible for building and connecting engineers to Blameless content resources that are valuable when building a blameless and resilient culture. You will participate in and produce technical content such as guides, tutorials, blogs, presentations, and videos to inspire and educate the community. As part of the go to market (GTM) team you will collaborate with sales, marketing, and product management across initiatives including product launches to enable the adoption of new Blameless features and capabilities.


You will be active in social media channels where you are building lasting relationships with industry experts, bloggers, thought-leaders and analysts and you will encourage fellow team-members to actively listen and engage in community conversations.


Core Focus:

  • Learn and develop expertise in the SRE practice areas and become proficient across all parts of the Blameless platform, including 3rd party integrations.
  • Actively contribute to the company s product direction and roadmap.
  • Act as the "voice of the user" for DevOps and SRE communities and communicate trends and feedback into product and strategy teams, using both qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Support community conversations in Slack and work closely with the GTM team including customer success acting as the SME.
  • Write content and work closely with other content contributors on guides, videos, and blogs. Technical specific content will include demos and walkthroughs for persona users.
  • Contribute to thought leadership content using your industry experience, relationships, and knowledge of SRE best practices.
  • Advocate the blameless developer and ops culture by presenting at conferences, webinars, and other events.
  • Mentor and coach internal team-members so everyone stays knowledgeable on industry trends .
  • Hire and build out the advocacy team as the company grows.

Technical & Advocacy Experience:

  • 3-5 years related experience, ideally with 1-3 years in Developer Relations, Developer Community, and/or Developer Documentation.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience with SaaS, specifically B2B with mid-market and enterprise accounts.
  • Ability to understand complex, interdependent technical requirements.

Content & Communication:

  • Proven clear and concise writing experience including technical content.
  • Prior experience teaching, mentoring, or training developers, Ops and/or SRE teams.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • An understanding of how content drives awareness with knowledge on how SEO works.
  • Some travel to attend and speak at conferences, meetups, and other events.

Passionate Advocate:

  • Exceptional ability to communicate with and influence technical and non-technical audiences from entry-level to the C-Suite.
  • Work effectively cross-functionally marketing, sales, product, strategy and engineering with relative ease to promote new ideas and drive business goals.
  • Passionate about helping engineers and developers reduce toil and strive for excellence.

Team Player:

  • Self-starter and comfortable initiating ideas and contributions that drive company goals, with minimal direction.
  • Open to receiving feedback and willing to mentor other team-members.
  • Works well with management to ensure alignment with the entire team and business plan.
